Kent Reptile & Amphibian Group (KRAG) - Activity Day

Date & Time:

Wednesday, 10th March, 10am - 1pm
Meet at Hurstwood Road, Bredhurst


Details:

Helpers are invited to assist with setting out a number of reptile ‘refugia’.  These are thin metal sheets or pieces of roofing felt placed in areas where reptiles are known to live. These will then be monitored regularly throughout the season and, hopefully, will demonstrate that our restoration programme has benefited reptiles in the area.

Volunteer Task Day

Sunday 21st March, 10am - 2pm
Meet at Hurstwood Road, Bredhurst.


Details:

Come along and help with the restoration work in Bredhurst Woods.  Tasks may include light coppicing, fencing repairs or litter picking and will be agreed nearer the time depending on the number of volunteers attending and the weather!  Please bring gloves and wear suitable clothing.

Family Wildlife Walk

Meet at Hurstwood Road, Bredhurst.


Details:

A walk through the village of Bredhurst and the surrounding woodland looking out for the early signs of spring.  Organised by the Medway Valley Countryside Partnership (MVCP) in association with BWAG.

Photographic Competition, Workshop & Exhibition
Admission 50p (free for under 16’s and ‘Sights & Scenes’ exhibitors)

Sunday 11th April, 10.30am - 4pm
Bredhurst Village Hall, Hurstwood Road, Bredhurst


Details:

Photography Competition - ‘Sights & Scenes of Bredhurst’
Presentation at 3pm for the best photograph in each of the following categories:

      • Street Scenes
      • Wildlife (Animals, Birds, Insects etc)
      • Nature (Trees, Plants, Fungi etc)
      • Scenic (Views & Landscapes)
      • Village Events
      • Village Pets & People

Entries must either be submitted on A4 photographic paper or digital images on line. 
Send A4 photographs to:

(Include your name, address, tel. number, category and entry fee @ 50p per entry)

Digital entries may be submitted at www.jackpicknell.co.uk/bwag
Images will be professionally printed on 12” x 8” photographic paper at a charge of £1.50 per print which includes the competition entry fee.

Photography Workshop
Bring along your camera, if it’s compatible, get advice and take some shots using studio equipment.  Alternately, let our photographer take your photograph.

Bygone Bredhurst - Exhibition of Old Photographs
You are invited to exhibit your photographs or press cuttings of ‘Bygone Bredhurst’ free of charge.  We have several from 1900 to recent years which will be on display, but we would welcome more.  If you have any items of interest and will allow us to use them, please contact Jack Picknell on 07946 416110 or Jim Chalmers on 07870 878907 for further details.

A guided bird walk by Owen Sweeney of the Kent Ornithological Society.  BWAG members and non-members welcome. No charge.

 


Reptile Ramble
Kent Reptile & Amphibian Group (KRAG)
